The Planning Committee for the Asia Pacific Meeting on Simulation in Healthcare (APMSH 2016) is seeking abstracts describing research and innovation projects in healthcare simulation, including, but not limited to high-fidelity manikin simulation, virtual simulation, serious games, standardized patients, hybrid models, task trainers, low cost/low resource innovations, and technical modifications.  Other simulation methods are also welcomed.  We welcome abstracts addressing the use of simulation in healthcare as a method for training, assessment, research, quality improvement, healthcare systems analysis, medical device evaluation, and many more

Full Details for Submission

ELIGIBLE ABSTRACT SUBMISSION TYPES

Quantitative, Qualitative, or Mixed Methods Study (completed or work in progress).

Each abstract must report project results (actual or anticipated) and appropriate conclusions.  Acceptable projects must be based on a research question(s). A formal hypothesis test may not be necessary in qualitative research designs, but the research question under investigation MUST be stated. Quantitative and mixed-methods studies must clearly state the hypothesis being tested. These studies must include simulation as either the subject of the research, or as a research tool.

Innovation Report (Completed or work in progress)

Program Innovation abstracts are defined as those that report on an innovative use of simulation to improve or augment educational programs. The primary focus of these abstracts is the novel nature of the intervention being presented, not the evaluative methodology. Thus, while rigorous evidence supporting the program’s impact is welcome, it is not an absolute requirement, and for many of these abstracts “lower” levels of evidence such as evaluation of learners' opinions of a new program may be both appropriate and sufficient. Abstracts submitted to the category of program innovation will thus be reviewed primarily on the basis of the presented program’s innovative nature.

Each abstract will be categorized by a special interest category.
