Call for FIRES Manuscripts
The Planning Committee for the 19th International Meeting on Simulation in Healthcare (IMSH 2019) is inviting submissions for the Future Innovators in Research, Education, and Simulation (FIRES) publication program that unites two forms of academic dissemination. FIRES manuscripts are shorter papers than typical journal submissions that, if accepted, will:
- Be presented along with other accepted FIRES submissions at the 2019 Meeting as an oral presentation (20 min + 10 min for questions)
- Be published as a short paper in Simulation in Healthcare (SIH) in the spring of 2019.
Given the structure of this process, submitted manuscripts should represent completed research suitable for publication. All manuscripts submitted will be reviewed in a rigorous, blinded, peer-review process that will include editorial review by the Journal. There are two steps to this process.Manuscripts will be initially submitted using the IMSH submission system with a deadline of September 10, 2018. After an initial review, the committee will issue invitations to upload manuscripts to the Simulation in Healthcare Journal site for those works felt to be most competitive. These invitations will be sent by October 15th. Uploaded manuscripts will receive expedited peer-review and specific feedback. Revisions may be required, as would be the case for all Journal submissions. Final acceptance to both IMSH and Simulation in Healthcare will be sent out by Dec 1st, 2018.
Authors are required to adhere to the Simulation in Healthcare instructions. For FIRES submissions, the manuscript cannot exceed 2000 words and no more than four figures/tables. A structured abstract is required, not to exceed 250 words. Please see the Journal Instructions for Authors for additional information about style, reference format and table and figure format requirements.
The presentation at the Meeting is an integral process of the FIRES program. Authors must present their work at the Meeting and must register for IMSH 2019 in order to have their work published in the Journal.Authors are not eligible for discounted IMSH registration fees. Presenters are responsible for IMSH general session registration, lodging, and travel to the meeting.
