The excitement is building – and so has the content for IMSH 2011!  The educational session offerings now being selected for the 11th International Meeting on Simulation in Healthcare offer simulation professionals a larger-than-ever-before array of workshops, pre-conference courses, expert panels, roundtable discussions, immersive courses, podium presentations, and video sessions.  The final program is nearly done - which means registration is just around the corner.

On-line registration will open in mid-September.  Descriptions of each session offering, along with brief bios of the session faculty will be available online to help you build your conference itinerary.  You will pre-register for each session, thereby securing your seat.

Tuition for members is $495, non-members $645 (includes your SSH membership fee).

Prior to the eight educational sessions  of the official meeting
that begin on Sunday afternoon, special Pre-Conference courses will be held on Saturday and Sunday, January 21 & 22.  These intensive, four hour courses give participants many options to acquire new knowledge and skills from some of today’s top simulation professionals.  An additional fee of $250 each is required.  You have the option to register for one course on Saturday afternoon, and one course on Sunday morning.

Back by popular demand, our Immersive Courses offer real-life learning environments that “immerse” the participant in realistic, everyday scenarios, transforming conference rooms and bringing simulation to life.  These three hour programs are $50/each.   Enrollment is limited, so you’ll want to register early.

You will receive an email announcement when online registration is open.  Watch for it – and plan on joining us in January for .... Simulation, Improv and All That Jazz!

If you have any questions or comments to pass along to us, contact Kathy Adams, Director of Continuing Education at kadams@ssih.org

NEW FEATURES
LEARNING OBJECTIVES

1. OPENING CEREMONIES ON SUNDAY

IMSH 2011 will officially begin at 2:00 pm on Sunday with the Opening Plenary Session, followed by the Grand Opening of the Exposition and the first round competition for Simwars. This new format provides an additional ½ day of programming, as well as more options for SSH committee and special interest group meetings.

2. PRE-REGISTRATION FOR ALL SESSIONS

You will choose all of your sessions when you register, building your own itinerary and securing your seat in the sessions you most want to attend. Registration will open mid-September. Hotel reservations will open in early July.

3. EXPANDED Experience Sim! IMMERSIVE COURSES.

Back by popular demand, Experience Sim!! will offer new cases and scenarios designed to “immerse” participants in every facet of scenario design and implementation. Courses will be three hours in length - space is limited. An additional charge is required for these sessions.

4. NEW Session Formats

Two new session formats have been added for IMSH 2011. Meet the SimPros (formerly Roundtable Discussions) is designed to address a particular issue through discussion with recognized experts in that subject area. Attendees will register for the topic to be discussed, and be guided in the session by noted experts in that content area. Podium Presentations are didactic sessions highlighting the latest innovations and practices in healthcare simulation today. This new format will offer updates of interest to a broad inter-professional audience.

5. IMSH Pre-Conference Activities

IMSH Pre-Conference Activities begin on Friday, January 21, and will continue through Sunday morning, January 23. This year’s list of course offerings includes a new, consensus-style conference focused on simulation research. The SSH Research Consensus Summit: State of the Science will open on Friday. A keynote address entitled “Government and Industry Funding of Simulation Research”, along with other important topics in healthcare simulation research will be discussed throughout the conference. Attendees will be integral in forming a consensus statement. These programs require separate registration at an additional fee.
