Call for Papers

SIMULATION IN HEALTHCARE is issuing a Call for Papers for a partial theme issue about the use of clinical simulation techniques to improve the quality and safety of the management of patients with highly communicable diseases (including, but not limited to Ebola Virus Disease - EVD).    In general reports of what a single institution did to prepare for (or treat) patients with such diseases would need to be highly rigorous or novel to be of interest.  Single simulation scenarios or cursory "here's what we did" manuscripts are unlikely to be competitive.   Of more interest would be well documented reports of intensive systems probing and practice change; collections of reports or surveys of what many sites did; thorough conceptual syntheses of the various roles of simulation in preparing for highly communicable diseases; systematic reviews of the literature concerning simulation's utility.   In general manuscripts about mathematical modeling of the spread of communicable diseases in the population will be outside the scope of our journal, unless perhaps where such models directly inform clinical simulation training or systems.

Papers can be submitted and Instructions for Authors can be found at:  www.editorialmanager.com/sih . Deadline for submitting manuscripts is April 20th, 2015. Direct questions to the Managing Editor Karl Durst at journal@ssih.org .
