We’re excited to announce the BRAND NEW SSH Masters Classes!

The SSH Masters Class Program is designed for mid to advanced career simulation professionals working as Administrators, Educators or Operations Specialists within healthcare simulation. Designed to target difficult and complex problems in the field, Masters Class Cohorts are taught by members of the SSH Academy Fellows (FSSH).

Applicants will submit a current, significant problem they are experiencing in practice that they would like to solve. The problems identified will become the curricular focus of each Masters Class cohort. The SSH Academy Fellows teaching each cohort will create curriculum specific to the applicant-identified issues and provide direct insight and feedback to offer applicants solutions for creating and implementing actionable plans for solving the problems identified.

Participants in each cohort learn not only from SSH Academy Fellow instructors, but also from each other through networking, shared experiences, and mutual support.

Successful applicants must be planning to attend the 23rd International Meeting on Simulation in Healthcare (IMSH 2023) to participate in two face-to-face sessions with SSH Fellow instructors/mentors. In addition, virtual sessions will be held in January prior to IMSH, and again in May for a wrap-up.

Applications are now open for being taken now for the first FREE pilot cohorts. Spots are limited, so submit your application early! Follow this link and select “Create New” to create your application! The deadline for applications: Wednesday, December 21, 2022, 5 p.m. Eastern Time (U.S.)

GROUND-BREAKING PRECONFERENCE EVENT!!

Begin your IMSH 2023 experience with the SSH Research Summit. Arrive in time for the kickoff of the Summit at 12 noon Eastern on Friday, January 20. The 2023 SSH Research Summit is THE preconference event being held prior to the IMSH 2023 General Session.

Don’t miss being a part of the first comprehensive Summit to establish practice guidelines and research priorities in healthcare simulation. Exhaustive systematic and expert panel review findings in 12 key healthcare simulation content areas will be reported. Learn more about the Research Summit and plan to arrive in time to be a part of it!

EXCITING POSTCONFERENCE IMMERSIVE COURSES

We are proud to offer four exciting Immersive Courses on Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2023, immediately following the close of the IMSH General Session. A box lunch and transportation will be provided. Plan your travel to stay for the courses from 12-5 p.m. and enjoy one of these incredible experiences:

1. From Passengers to Patients: Creating a Safety Culture

CAE Healthcare
Orlando, Florida

This course is a unique opportunity for a learner to become "Pilot for a Day." Aviation has decreased harm and errors to 1 death per 1 billion miles flown. Is this possible in healthcare? Utilizing multiple types of learning methodologies, checklists and regulations to drive performance and safety, this immersive experience will teach healthcare professionals about flight safety protocols and checklists.

Learn the similarities between aviation and healthcare and formulate ideas to better impact your own simulation program. Make an impact on patient and provider safety by leveraging the teams and tools aviation educators use to drive teamwork, communication, and just-culture.

 2. The Business of Simulation: Generating Revenue to Support Education

Center for Advanced Learning and Medical Simulation (CAMLS)
University of South Florida
Tampa, Florida

An innovative and diverse business model can drive overall sustainability for not only the simulation program but for the umbrella institution as well. The Center for Advanced Medical Learning and Simulation (CAMLS), a 90,000-square-foot center in the heart of Tampa, Florida, has integrated a unique business model with a diversified portfolio including bioskills, film/television, in situ, and community simulation.

This course will provide a hands-on visual approach to diversifying business interests and simulation modalities beyond manikin-based simulation. Participants will choose a one-hour track to participate in as part of a break-out session. Enduring materials will be provided based on the specialty topic selected by participants. Go behind the scenes of one of the oldest and largest simulation centers in the United States and get on an inside track for success.

3. Simulation in City Beautiful: The New Frontier of Healthcare Simulation

Simulation, Technology, Innovation, and Modeling (STIM) Center

College of Nursing
University of Central Florida
Orlando, Florida

This interdisciplinary immersive course has been designed to feature new and emerging technologies that can be used to expand and innovate your simulation program. Sessions include mixed/extended reality simulation, holograms, diversity, equity, and inclusion scenarios, and innovations in telehealth simulation.

Also included is a tour of the Synthetic Reality Lab (SREAL) at the University of Central Florida. Pronounced “Surreal”, this innovative lab includes human surrogate research, robotics research, mixed reality experiences, interactive training using digital avatar technology, and the development of cultural heritage and STEM experiences. Some short-distance walking will be required. Don’t miss this look into the future of innovation in healthcare simulation!

4. 3D Printing in Healthcare Simulation: From Introduction to Printing

School of Nursing Simulation Center
Valencia College
Orlando, Florida

Cover all the bases of 3D printing in this immersive, hands-on course designed to teach you all of the concepts you’ll need to implement 3D printing for your simulation program. Key concepts that will be covered in this course; 1) learning about 3D printers, parts, and lingo, 2) designing in a 3-dimensional environment, and 3) how to take your 3D design to print. Bring your laptop – Apple or PC (updated to Windows 10) – and learn how to design and 3D print your own simulation tools for learning!

Learn more, register for everything at IMSH2023.org now, and we’ll see you in January!
