THE PULSE: Join us on Sept. 18 for SSH Day of Giving! > The Society for Simulation in Healthcare
JOIN/RENEW SSH

On Wednesday, September 18, as part of Healthcare Simulation Week 2024, the SSH Fund is sponsoring “SSH Day of Giving”.

On that day, we will ask our members and additional key stakeholders from across the healthcare simulation community – including you! – to make a gift in support of the SSH Fund.

We’re doing this because healthcare simulation continues to expand as a critical component of better healthcare and better patient outcomes, and SSH is a part of that expansion of influence.

SSH membership is strong. IMSH 2024 in San Diego was our largest meeting ever (and we’ll celebrate 25 years of IMSH this coming January 10-14 at IMSH 2025, in Orlando). And, just a few weeks ago, SSH SimOps 2024 sold out for the first time ever.

Like I said … things are expanding, which means new initiatives such as the SSH Day of Giving on Sept. 18 are quickly becoming crucial.

When you donate to the SSH Fund, you are making an investment in the future of healthcare simulation in two ways: first, by supporting current opportunities; and second, by helping establish a long-term endowment that will provide financial support for member-driven initiatives well into the future.

Thanks to generous donations from people just like you, in 2023 the SSH Fund raised enough money to provide the following:

· $50,000 to support Research Grants for Early Career and Experienced Researchers – the process for distributing the funds will be managed by the Research Committee.

· $10,000 to support additional Beverlee Anderson Scholarships – there will be additional scholarships available for IMSH 2025. These funds will be managed by the Internal Relations Committee.

· $5,000 to support SimVentors Awards – the competition at IMSH 2025 in Orlando this January will be the first to offer financial prizes. These funds will be managed by the Technology Committee.

· $5,000 to support the Chad Epps Endowment - these funds will support the keynote lecturer on the first day of IMSH. The speakers are chosen to provide a lecture that will inspire and continue creating a community of practice we all enjoy.

· More than $65,000 will be directed to the development of a long-term endowment fund that will support research grants, scholarships, and similar initiatives into the future.

Your gift to the SSH Fund will continue to support these important initiatives. Over time, the priorities of the Fund will adapt to reflect the evolving needs and desires of our members and the broader simulation community.

So, please mark your calendars now for Sept. 18 (during Healthcare Simulation Week 2024!) and join in the week’s celebration with a gift to the SSH Fund.

Every gift matters – including yours!

Sincerely,

Jeff Hale
SSH Director of Development
