February 2, 2015: The Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH) announces today the addition of thirteen fully accredited Sim Centers, one provisional and two mid-cycle area accreditations to the roster of accredited centers. Since launching the accreditation program in 2010, fifty-four centers have achieved accreditation. This rigorous process is important to the healthcare simulation profession because it fosters institutional and program improvement.

It is exciting to see the number of programs that are pursuing accreditation and demonstrating quality healthcare simulation from around the globe. We are looking forward to more programs becoming accredited and ultimately impacting and improving patient safety and outcomes through the delivery of healthcare simulation that meets and exceeds the accreditation standards, said Juli Maxworthy, Chair of the SSH Accreditation Committee.

The SSH Accreditation program is truly global. To date, centers in the United States, Canada, Australia, China, Hong Kong, Dominica, and Kenya are accredited. SSH accreditation examines program’s proficiency and expertise in Assessment, Research, Teaching/Education and Systems Integration. If you are committed to promoting and delivering excellence in your simulation program visit http://www.ssih.org/Accreditation to learn more about SSH Accreditation.
