Hello,

First, we hope this message finds you and your family safe during these challenging times. SSH has received more than a few emails and calls inquiring whether IMSH 2022 would be held in person in Los Angeles, California, due to the emergence of the Omicron variant in the United States. At this time, the Los Angeles Convention Center and County of Los Angeles are not canceling events, and there is no indication that will happen.

Therefore, IMSH will take place as scheduled, January 15-19.

COVID-19 precautions for IMSH 2022 align with CDC, state, county, and city guidelines; including mandatory masking requirements and proof of vaccination or negative covid test prior to event entry. Additionally, SSH is providing onsite, rapid-result testing and will continue to be in constant communication with the Convention Center. All of these things have been planned and developed with SSH members, SSH Staff, and IMSH attendees in mind.

Social distancing precautions, the high level of screening using CLEAR, and wearing Kn95 masks should help to mitigate much of the risk of COVID for all individuals on site.

In many ways, SSH believes there is no more important time than NOW for IMSH to take place. Simulation-based healthcare training using simulation is essential for our front-line staff, is of critical importance, and not just a “nice to have” for the protection of caregivers and patients. It is important to attend IMSH to learn from each other about best practices in healthcare education and training so we can bring these back to our organizations for the sake of patient safety and future innovation.

With that in mind, we do understand fully that this may not be the right time for some to attend IMSH 2022 in person. We are aware of those many clinicians who have extreme local staffing and/or capacity issues, of those individuals who are immunocompromised, of those who are not vaccinated, and of those who are extremes of age. Again, we understand. We have planned from the beginning for those who may not be able to travel by offering IMSH Delivers 2022 - the virtual IMSH experience.

For everyone, we encourage you to make any decision based on what is right for you. Everything possible has been done and will be done to keep IMSH 2022 safe. We look forward to seeing those of you who are able to attend.

Sincerely,
