THE PULSE - Why you need to attend the SSH Research Summit > The Society for Simulation in Healthcare

It’s unbelievable to think about how fast this year has gone!

As summer draws toward an end, I hope you (and your colleagues!) are making plans to attend IMSH 2023, but also to attend the 2023 SSH Research Summit – the only preconference event of IMSH 2023.

The SSH Research Summit will take place January 20-21, 2023, and by attending, you will be among the first to hear and see evidence-based findings in multiple KEY simulation areas.

Over the past two years, a group of simulation and research experts have been working tirelessly on the development of evidence-based practice guidelines for simulation training to continue to serve the global simulation community. The initiative has been led by Dr. Dimitrios Stefanidis, MD, PhD, Chair of the SSH Research Summit, as well as a steering committee consisting of Sharon Muret-Wagstaff, PhD, MD, Sharon Decker, RN, PhD, and David A. Cook, MD, MHPE, all of whom have substantial research expertise.

Part of the work in developing these guidelines has been to create expert working groups that have systematically reviewed the existing literature and are in the process of working to formulate recommendations based on standard methodology (GRADE). Part of this process has also been to include methodologists with expertise in these areas.

Aside from development of practice guidelines, the goals of the SSH Research Summit also include:

  • - Identifying gaps in research,
    - Seeking summit participants to create working groups tasked with developing research projects around those identified gaps and priorities, and
    - Development of papers created both before and after the SSH Research Summit.

You do not want to miss the 2023 Research Summit. It will serve as an opportunity for you to get involved and help advance your profession! Again, and I can’t stress this enough, be an industry thought leader and be among the first to hear and see evidence-based findings in multiple key simulation areas!
