SIMULATION: BRINGING LEARNING TO LIFE
Welcome to the 21st International Meeting on Simulation in Healthcare (IMSH 2021)! The Planning Team for IMSH 2021 is pleased to announce the opening of the IMSH 2021 Call for Content.
We look forward to connecting the vibrance of our host city New Orleans to our theme, “Simulation: Bringing Learning to Life”. Through this theme, we will explore the complexities of healthcare and the relationships that exist within it, focusing on the human connection that is often under-valued. Healthcare simulation is experiential, interactive, and humanistic. Those concepts provide tools through which we can rely on each other to push the profession forward.
In addition, we recognize the sweeping and challenging impacts simulation programs have, and will continue to face, as the result of the current Covid-19 pandemic. Simulation programs around the globe have responded to the pandemic in inspiring and innovative ways, finding solutions, supporting caregivers, and retooling how we provide high quality simulation programming. Tell us your stories and share the innovations you’ve employed to respond to the crisis.
Additional concepts we hope to capture with this theme are:
- Invigorating learning
- Promoting and advocating the profession
- Being a champion of our work
Join us in New Orleans!

NEW THIS YEAR!
IMSH Technical Proceedings
The IMSH Technical Proceedings is a new content submission option for publication that is being debuted at IMSH 2021. Entries in this category require a full manuscript of four to six pages. If accepted, submitters will be scheduled to give a brief oral presentation at IMSH 2021, and the manuscript will be published after IMSH in the new IMSH Technical Proceedings publication. Papers on various technical topics are desired.
Smaller Class Size, non-AV Option
Presenters now have the option to present highly interactive workshops for a smaller group of learners. In an effort to promote interactivity and hands-on experiences, a limited number of more intimate meeting rooms has been secured for IMSH 2021. Courses designed for a high degree of interactivity and participant engagement are desired. The purpose of this format is to allow participants to be fully immersed in hands-on learning and experience new ideas in an innovative setting. Presentations accepted for this option will be scheduled for 15 – 30 learners, and will NOT have access to a projector, screen, microphone, or wi-fi.
Call for Content Reviewers - NOW OPEN!
We anticipate needing over 400 content reviewers to effectively assess and select the content for IMSH 2021! Consider becoming an SSH reviewer for our course proposals, abstracts, technical proceedings and SimVentor entries. The Reviewer application form is included with this year’s Call for Content. In order to be considered, you must be a current SSH Member, and have an updated disclosure form, bio statement and CV uploaded into your SSH member profile.
