The deadline for all submissions is Friday, June 5, 2020

Submit NOW!*

How to submit a SimVentors Entry to IMSH 2021! Recording Available Password for Recording: IMSH2021!

The IMSH SimVentors Showcase is a unique and powerful innovation exhibition that showcases the latest in healthcare technologies, simulation discoveries, and serious games.  Join this inventive group of peers and judges to share ideas, gain feedback, get mentorship and transition new simulation solutions to end users.  Accepted submissions in this format will be given a 90-minute timeslot to present on Sunday, January 10th, 2021 between the hours of 4:00 and 7:00 PM.

Category of Show

1.     All Hands-on Tech!

New this year is the addition of All Hands on Tech! from the IMSH Technology Committee.  This educational experience will give attendees the opportunity to put their hands-on various types of simulation technology and experiment to gain valuable information for use, adoption, and creation. Technologies specifically sought include but are not limited to wearables, physiological sensors, part-task trainers, AR, VR, and CAVE/WAVE environments and can be anywhere along the range of maturity from a prototype to a commercialized product.

2.     Innovation Showcase

Have an amazing invention, innovation, or methodology to share or get feedback on?  Contribute to the newest fixes and ideas in healthcare simulation through this showcase of demonstrations and discussions.  Low cost, low resource solutions, DIY solutions, modifications to existing equipment, and the latest high-tech ideas will be on display. These may include but are not limited to AR/VR, serious games, 3D printing, mobile apps, physiological sensors, unique learning paradigms, autonomous systems, AI, tissue properties, tele-sim, mobile operations, improvisation techniques, novel content delivery methods, and task trainer modifications.

Technologies must meet the following requirements to be considered for this category, as commercialized products will not be accepted:

1.     Less than five sales

2.     Less than $100,000 total revenue

IMPORTANT: The Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH) strongly recommends that users of simulation-based learning equipment consult with manufacturers regarding equipment warranty and/or repair policies prior to making any modification.

3.     Serious Games Showcase

Showcase the newest virtual and game-based applications in healthcare simulation, training, and education during this showcase of demonstrations and discussions. This innovative forum will introduce learners to the latest developments in virtual environments and game-based learning.

Note: Commercialized products may be showcased, but promotion of commercial companies (flyers, banners, etc.) is NOT permitted.

JUDGING OF PRESENTATIONS

All entries will be rigorously reviewed by a set of esteemed judges. All judges will be recognizable (e.g. by ribbon, name tag) and will visit each demonstration presenter within the assigned time period to judge entries on the entry impact, innovation and approach. All attendees will have the opportunity to place a ballot for the “People’s Choice Award”.

PRESENTATION REQUIREMENTS

1.     Entry Demonstration/Presentation in the SimVentors Showcase

If accepted, presenters will be asked to bring their product to IMSH 2021 for display and demonstration in the SimVentors Showcase, being held on Sunday, January 10, 2021 from 4:00 - 7:00 PM.  Presenters of accepted entries will be provided a presentation space (consisting of one six-foot table and two chairs) from which to showcase and demonstrate during a 90-minute period. The presentation format is informal.  Presenters are encouraged to network and provide collegial feedback and discussion about all showcase entries being demonstrated.  Standard electrical power and a small table will be provided.  Presenters are responsible for bringing demonstration materials (e.g. laptops, video, equipment).  Wireless internet access will be provided.  It is recommended presenters prepare a back-up of any entry presentation materials, particularly if utilizing a screen-based environment.  A movie clip, saved files on a thumb drive, etc would be suitable options.  This will allow presenters to proceed with the demonstration, even if connection speed is not optimal.  Presenters must be present for the entire duration of their timeslot. During the SimVentors Showcase, presenters will be able to discuss their ideas in an informal format with attendees and vendors. Mentorship is available if you would like more information on the design of your product, patent information, or assistance presenting your ideas!

2.     Presentation of Standard Information and Three Take-away Lessons

The following information should be prepared for presentation to attendees. It can be posted on the demonstration table, or as a flyer for attendees to take with them.

·      Name(s) of presenters

·      Category of show

·      Image (dimensions)

·      Short description of innovation (100 words or less)

·      Describe the problem being solved and why it’s important

·      Three facts about the entry that could assist in decision-making about similar techniques/technologies. Examples of these types of facts include but are not limited to helpful information such as the level of effort required (man-hours), breakdown of the type of expertise required to develop the innovation (engineering, UI/UX, etc), total cost, technology required, and recommendations for how it may be incorporated into a curriculum.

3.     Acknowledge Understanding that  Promotion of Commercial Products is NOT Allowed

No “give-aways” or promotional materials are permitted during the SimVentors Showcase.  This will be strictly enforced. The idea of the Showcase is to promote collegiality, networking and collaboration in the field.
