For the position of: Director-at-Large

As a candidate for Director at Large with the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH), I bring a unique perspective that bridges Eastern and Western needs assessment and approaches to healthcare simulation education. As a frequent presenter for healthcare simulation and faculty development content, I have witnessed firsthand the transformative power of simulation education in developing healthcare professionals across Asia. As the Campus Director of SIMS@SKH and an Adjunct Associate Professor at Singapore Institute of Technology, I have demonstrated my commitment to excellence by successfully leading our Institute for Medical Simulation to achieve comprehensive SSH accreditation across multiple domains - Teaching/Education, Fellowship Program, Assessment, Research, and System Integration. This achievement reflects my deep understanding of quality standards and best practices in healthcare simulation.

My journey in simulation-based education has been marked by active engagement both regionally and internationally. As a CHSE-A certified educator and SSH Fellow, I have dedicated my career to advancing simulation education excellence. My current roles as a site reviewer for the SSH Accreditation Committee have given me deep insights into the standards and best practices that drive our field forward. My pro bono contribution to simulation excellence includes successful guiding of two centers through their SSH accreditation journey, demonstrating my ability to mentor and support others in achieving international standards of excellence.

Being based in Singapore, a multicultural hub at the heart of Asia, has provided me with unique perspectives on the needs and challenges of simulation educators across diverse cultural contexts. Through my experience in conducting faculty development programs throughout Asia, I have developed a keen understanding of how to adapt simulation methodologies to different cultural and educational settings while maintaining international standards of excellence.

My leadership experiences as the immediate past President of Pan-Asia Society for Simulation in Healthcare (PASSH), past Vice-President of Society for Simulation in Healthcare, Singapore (SSHS) and founding advisor of Malaysia Society for Simulation in Healthcare (MsSSH) have equipped me with the strategic vision and collaborative skills necessary for the Director at Large position. These roles have helped me understand the importance of building connections between different simulation communities and fostering inclusive growth in our field.

As Director at Large, I envision strengthening SSH's global outreach, particularly in the Asia region, where simulation-based education is rapidly evolving. I aim to facilitate greater collaboration between Eastern and Western simulation communities, ensuring that diverse perspectives enrich our collective practice. My experience in Simulation-based credentialing work focusing on program accreditation and certification, my field experience as a qualified, experienced healthcare simulation educator positions me well to contribute to SSH's mission of advancing the science of healthcare simulation worldwide.

I believe my combination of simulation certification, leadership experience, and deep understanding of both Asian and Western healthcare simulation contexts makes me uniquely qualified to serve as Director at Large. I am committed to fostering inclusive growth, promoting excellence in simulation education, and strengthening global partnerships that will benefit our simulation community.
