HARRISON, Ohio (July 25, 2025) — The Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH) has received a record-setting 92 accreditation applications in 2025, the highest one-year total in the program’s history.
That number includes 62 total applications in the July cycle alone, also a record.

"The recent increase in SSH Accreditation applications reflects that programs value the opportunity to demonstrate their commitment to best practice methodologies and a systematic approach to simulation operations," said Jarrod Young, MBA, BSE, CHSOS-A, FSSH, Chair of the SSH Accreditation Council. "We are excited to see reaccredited programs expanding their efforts – adding new areas such as Human Simulation, Research, and Systems Integration – which underscores their ongoing dedication to excellence and patient safety."
SSH Accreditation is the world’s leading recognition for healthcare simulation programs. Programs may apply for Full Accreditation in one or more of six core areas: Assessment, Research, Teaching/Education, Systems Integration, Fellowship Programs, and the new Human Simulation. Provisional Accreditation supports emerging programs, while Mid-Cycle Accreditation allows currently accredited programs to maintain their status through interim review.
SSH also operates the Commission for International Simulation Accreditation (CISA), a global initiative aimed at extending SSH’s Accreditation standards internationally. Through CISA, SSH partners with its International Affiliate Organizations (IAOs) to share the SSH Accreditation intellectual property and methodology. These IAOs are authorized to deliver accreditation services to simulation programs within their designated geographic regions, ensuring consistency in quality and standards across the globe.
SSH was proud to launch CISA in June 2024 through a partnership with the Mexican Society for Simulation in Health Sciences (SOMESICS). Since then, SSH has remained steadfast in advancing CISA’s mission, with growing interest from additional International Affiliate Organizations.
With nearly 300 programs accredited worldwide, SSH Accreditation continues to set the global benchmark for simulation program excellence, supporting organizations in improving outcomes, operations, and patient safety.
