The PULSE: SSH Is a Living Example of Member Engagement in Action

If you’ve been around the association world long enough, you know there’s a common thread among the healthiest organizations: strong member engagement.

The American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) even tracks it as one of the clearest indicators of organizational success. When members show up—by volunteering, sharing ideas, attending events, and stepping into leadership—they create the heartbeat that keeps an association thriving.

That heartbeat has never been stronger at SSH. Over the past few years — and especially this one — we’ve seen incredible participation across every corner of our community.

The SSH "Of The Year" Awards drew more nominations than ever before, highlighting the inspiring work happening throughout simulation. IMSH registration is pacing for another record year, and SimOps continues to grow as more operational professionals join in to strengthen their programs and connections. Exhibitor participation has expanded too, with companies eager to showcase innovations that move healthcare simulation forward.

Even our leadership elections tell the same story: more candidates than ever are stepping up to serve and help guide SSH’s future.

As Marketing Director, I’ve had the privilege to see this engagement this year while helping tell SSH’s story — from Board-level initiatives that advance our mission to local activities that keep members connected and inspired. The enthusiasm, creativity, and commitment I’ve seen across all levels truly reflect what ASAE describes as a “healthy organization”—one powered by engaged members who believe in its mission.

Simply put, SSH is thriving because our members are invested. You’re showing up, getting involved, and helping make SSH the global leader in healthcare simulation that it is today.

To everyone who’s presented, volunteered, registered, nominated, exhibited, or led this year: you’re proving, every day, that engagement isn’t just a metric. It’s SSH culture. And SSH culture has never been stronger.

Sincerely,

Curtis Kitchen, CAE
