SSH President's Message - July 2025

SSH President's July Message: SSH is on the MOVE!

It’s hard to believe we’re already halfway through the year, and submissions for IMSH 2026 have just closed! We’re thrilled to report a record number of submissions and are looking forward to another exceptional conference this January.

That's just one of many incredible happenings with SSH, and I want to make sure you're aware of them all:

IMSH 2026 – Plan Ahead!

Submissions just closed with a record number submitted. The conference is set for January 2026. As budget planning season begins, be sure to include IMSH for professional development—for both yourself and your team.

IMSH benefits everyone. For seasoned attendees, it’s a chance to reconnect, explore trends, and advance your practice. For newcomers, it’s the premier global venue for building a strong foundation in simulation knowledge and skills. It’s not just for educators but also for operations specialists, researchers, innovators, and professionals across all disciplines.

A justification guide is available to help support attendance.

SSH Advocacy Update

SSH remains the largest multidisciplinary, interprofessional simulation society globally. With that reach comes responsibility—to advocate, collaborate, and lead.

The Advocacy Committee, formed in 2023, was created to amplify SSH’s voice in key policy arenas. On July 10, the committee will represent SSH at the Capitol Hill Modeling & Simulation Expo, hosted by the National Training and Simulation Association (NTSA). This is a crucial opportunity to showcase the value of simulation in healthcare, disaster response, emergency management, defense, and beyond to those in positions to fund and support it.

SimOps 2025 – Don’t Miss It

SimOps 2025 will take place July 16–18, 2025, at the Jump Trading Simulation & Education Center in Peoria, Illinois. This event is focused on simulation operations and education. The entire SSH Board of Directors will be attending. Registration is filling quickly, so act now to secure your spot.

SSH Global Presence – Recent and Upcoming

June has been a busy and productive month for SSH. Members represented SSH at the International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning (INACSL) conference, the Society for Simulation in Europe (SESAM) congress, and through a virtual address to the Ukraine Simulation Society, delivered by President-Elect Dr. Aaron Calhoun.

In the coming weeks, SSH will engage with the Moroccan Simulation Society, SimGHOSTS, and other global partners. These collaborations are key to strengthening SSH’s role as a global connector across the simulation landscape.

SSH Accreditation – Growing and Impactful

SSH Accreditation continues to set the global benchmark in healthcare simulation, with over 250 accredited centers worldwide. The Human Patient Simulation Program accreditation is also seeing significant growth as more organizations pursue recognition for excellence in standardized patient programs.

The next accreditation application deadline is July 15, 2025.

As someone who was once skeptical about the value of accreditation, I can now confidently attest to the significant benefits it brings. Accreditation has elevated our simulation program’s visibility both locally and internationally, enhanced our ability to recruit top talent, opened doors to increased grant funding, and lowered costs for Joint IPCE and IMSH attendance through SSH. It has also helped us meet state-mandated educational requirements, strengthen and standardize our internal processes, effectively measure outcomes, and align with globally recognized best practices.

Healthcare Simulation Week – Save the Date

Healthcare Simulation Week 2025 will take place September 15–19, 2025. This year’s theme, “United Through Simulation,” celebrates the strength and diversity of the simulation community. Start brainstorming how you’ll bring this celebration to life in your local programs.

I look foward to seeing you at SimOps and seeing us all celebrate Healthcare Simulation Week in September. Here's to all of you!

Sincerely,

Jared Kutzin, DNP, MS, MPH, RN, CHSOS, FSSH, FAAN
