As I write this, SSH just put the wraps on an incredible SimOps 2026. While every simulation program depends on the simulation operation specialists who create the cases, apply the moulage, run the sessions, and make sure that all needed equipment is functioning in top form, these vital personnel often go unseen.
The most indispensable are often the least visible. The SimOps conference exists to change this, and it was my perspective that SSH made you, the operations specialists community, feel seen!
The conference this year was held at the Center for Advanced Medical Learning and Simulation (CAMLS) in Tampa. The theme of the conference, IGNITE, was meant to capture both the exciting and innovative nature of the conference offerings. It was our hope that all who attended will return with new energy and enthusiasm for simulation.
To the entire simulation operations community: I give my deepest thanks for all that you do every day to advance our field, train our learners, and enhance our ability to care for the patients we serve. Know that your work is seen and appreciated, and I hope I had the pleasure of meeting and talking with you in Tampa!
World Alliance of Healthcare Simulation
I also wanted to take a moment and provide an update on the World Alliance of Healthcare Simulation.
Since its inauguration last month, simulation organizations from across the world have shown growing interest, and a broad sense is emerging that this is what simulationists need to better engage with each other on a global level. While it is still early in the launch process, I am confident that WAHS already represents a significant advance in our ability to advocate for simulation at both national and international levels.
As you can see, there is a lot going on at SSH despite the summer season, and even more exciting developments are on the horizon. Thanks again to each of you for your engagement, service, and commitment to bettering the lives of our patients through healthcare simulation.
