The Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH), today announced that Allen J. Giannakopoulos, PhD has resigned from his position as Treasurer, effective November 12, 2014. He had served on the Board of Directors since January 2014.

 SSH has appointed Don Combs, PhD to complete Dr. Giannakopolous’ term on the Board of Directors. His appointment is from January 1, 2015 to December 31, 2015. Dr. Combs is Vice President and Founding Dean, School of Health Professions, Professor of Health Professions (EVMS), Professor of Modeling, Simulation and Visualization Engineering (ODU), Eastern Virginia Medical School and Old Dominion University, Norfolk, Virginia. Dr. Combs has served on the Board as Director-at-Large and is chair of the Public Affairs and Government Relations Committee. “Don brings academic leadership and budget experience to the Board”, said Jeffries.

 The Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH) was established in 2004 by professionals using simulation for education, testing, and research in healthcare. Membership is representative of all healthcare disciplines and is comprised of researchers, educators, and developers from around the globe. SSH fosters the improvement and application of simulation-based modalities such as human patient simulators, virtual reality, standardized patients and task trainers.
