    New Limits. No Boundaries.

The SimOps 2022 Planning committee selected the theme, “New Limits No Boundaries,” to represent the call to action all simulation operations specialists (SOS) in the field of healthcare simulation answered in the wake of the pandemic. The myriad challenges and burdens simulation centers and schools faced during the pandemic placed us all in similar yet different situations. We not only had to adapt but anticipate potential barriers while ensuring everyone’s safety. As we continue to navigate the still arduous path out of this pandemic, we must remember that we are not alone. It is only together that we can achieve progress and provide solutions to the challenges our field faces. And with each challenge answered, we can continue to expand the field of healthcare simulation to “new limits.” By shining a light on the accomplishments of fellow SOS, we hope to inspire others to continue to pursue the infinite possibilities for their professional development. The planning team encourages the SOS community to submit content highlighting creativity and innovation within our field. The theme provides SOS an opportunity to showcase their “no boundaries” approach and display the immeasurable contributions that make to the simulation team.

Chaitanya Mandapakala, MD

Statement from Chaitanya Mandapakala, MD

Overview:

As someone who works in the field of simulation, are you feeling you are not being utilized to your fullest potential ? Do you feel your Organization doesn’t see your worth or recognize the importance of simulation? How has the pandemic affected you ? When everyone is so busy with the pandemic and it’s challenges, is this not the time to be investing energy and resources on simulation or has its value actually gone up ?

Dr Chaitanya Mandapakala is a Pulmonologist and Intensivist who also specializes in quality improvement, process improvement and simulation in healthcare. He brings to you a timely and engaging session on the importance of simulation and it’s limitless potential in today’s healthcare. It’s time to highlight the value of a strong simulation program.

Objectives:

  1. Review aspects of the psychology of human learning and the importance of healthcare simulation
  2. Discuss the benefits of healthcare simulation and paths to realizing the full potential of a simulation program

By sharing their experiences, the panelists will provide insight and inspiration for attendees to see the potential opportunities within their own centers. The DIY approach to problem-solving last-minute issues or requests will help attendees add more tools to their trade.
