Happy November to all. As the seasons begin to change around the world, it is time to think about planning to come to the 19th annual International Meeting for Simulation in Healthcare (IMSH). This is your Societies’ annual meeting of simulationists from around the world and it should not be missed. This year, we are meeting for the first time in beautiful San Antonio, Texas where the weather will be warm and the people very friendly. For those of you who have not visited Texas, San Antonio is a family- friendly city with many attractions for all including the historic downtown Riverwalk, SeaWorld, plentiful restaurants, colorful museums, and a rich history. The city is very walkable and many attractions are near the Convention Center and local hotels.

The real value is in the meeting itself. This year the IMSH planning committee of Yue Dong, Shelita Kimble, and Krista Anderson, along with the SSH staff, have put together a wonderful program to include over 200 sessions offering the latest information on topics of interest to you and more than 200 abstracts and posters presenting the latest science in healthcare simulation.  IMSH will feature over 115 companies in the Exhibit Hall that will allow you to see and analyze the latest in simulation technologies as well as a SimVentors showcase where you can experience the latest simulation innovations.

Why should you come to IMSH? To discover new science, learn from experienced simulationists, participate in interactive workshops, and demonstrations, see new technologies, and network. It is the networking that is one of the most vital functions of the meeting. Perhaps where you work, you are the only one interested in a specific aspect of simulation.  At IMSH, you will find many people interested in what you are interested in through the many SSH sections, affinity groups, and special interest group meetings. Come share what you have done and learn from others in the areas that interest you!

There will be a new member orientation if this is your first IMSH meeting and opportunities to find a mentor. If you are a mid-career or more experienced simulationist, IMSH offers you a chance to discuss, debate, and analyze important issues to you through panels, small group sessions, and workshops. Your Society will offer continuing education credits in many sessions designed to help you maintain your expertise in simulation and meet many professional licensing and CHSE/CHSOS requirements.

So, there is little excuse not to mark Jan 26-30, 2019 on your calendars and come to IMSH. Register by Nov. 8 to save up to $170.  I hope to meet all of you there and to share your wonderful simulation stories and accomplishments.
