SSH is pleased to welcome new Director of Development, Jeff Hale, to the full-time staff!

Jeff started with SSH at the beginning of October, and he brings over 27 years of Development experience to the organization. In his role as Director of Development, Jeff will be responsible for overseeing philanthropy at SSH, primarily through the SSH Fund.

Jeff’s career has included tenures at several prominent Washington, DC performing arts institutions such as the Kennedy Center, National Gallery of Art, and Ford’s Theatre. Most recently, he was the Development Director at Samaritan Ministry of Greater Washington, where he focused his professional talents on helping the community get through the COVID-19 pandemic. Most importantly, though, Jeff was a Vice President of The Sheridan Group from 2012-2020 and was a principal member of the team that conducted the development assessment, research and analysis that led to the creation of the SSH Fund. In fact, Jeff was on-site at IMSH in San Diego back in 2020 conducting interviews and focus groups with key SSH stakeholders.

The SSH Fund was launched in 2023 to provide greater structure to philanthropy at the Society. We have been very fortunate to receive philanthropic support over the years, and the SSH Fund offers a unified giving program with the express goal of advancing excellence and innovation in the field of healthcare simulation. As an annual fund, it is designed to create immediate impact in the upcoming year. For example, contributions to the 2023 SSH Fund will be used to fund the following initiatives in 2024:

  • Expanded Research Grants
  • SimVentors Technology Awards
  • Beverlee Anderson Education Scholarship Fund
  • Chad Epps Lecture Endowment

Our goal for this year is $200,000, and we are already more than 60 percent of the way to achieving it. To learn more about how you can participate, visit www.sshfund.org. If you have any questions, you can also contact Jeff directly at jhale@ssih.org.
