THE PULSE - SSH Fund Looking Ahead to Exciting Year! > The Society for Simulation in Healthcare
JOIN/RENEW SSH
06

During the International Meeting on Simulation in Healthcare (IMSH ) in San Diego, the SSH Development Committee met for an in-person meeting to discuss the SSH Fund.

One of the major topics on the agenda was an initial discussion on the distribution of the funds that were raised in calendar year 2023.

The SSH Fund is a voluntary, annual fundraising campaign that is focused on pushing the boundaries of innovation and research and expanding access to the Society to meet the growing needs of members. Initially, money raised through the SSH Fund is being used to support the following:

RESEARCH AWARDS

The SSH Fund supports Research Awards that will fuel transformational advances in healthcare simulation by contributing to knowledge advancement, driving evidence-based practices, fostering collaboration, and more while supporting member participation from around the world. We anticipate awarding approximately $60,000 to support this effort in 2024.

SIMVENTORS AWARDS

The annual SimVentors Showcase at IMSH highlights the innovative technology development that takes place in member healthcare simulation programs and among emerging companies. We can now say that there will be financial awards for the Simventors Showcase at IMSH 2025!

BEVERLEE W. ANDERSON SCHOLARSHIPS

The primary purpose of the Beverlee W. Anderson Scholarship is to provide equitable opportunities for healthcare simulationists, especially those from low-resource organizations or countries. Supporting these Society members promotes professional development, fosters global collaboration, and ensures individuals from diverse backgrounds can actively participate in the advancement of healthcare simulation. We look forward to awarding more of these scholarships for individuals to attend IMSH 2025 next year!

CHAD EPPS KEYNOTE LECTURE ENDOWMENT

Beginning with IMSH 2025 in Orlando, the SSH Fund will provide additional funding to support the keynote lecturer on the first day of IMSH. Based on Chad’s legacy, the speakers are chosen to provide a lecture that will inspire and continue creating a community of practice we all enjoy. If you saw Michael Bonner’s presentation at IMSH 2024 in San Diego, you already know how impactful this speaker can be!
