JOIN/RENEW SSH
01

Greetings SSH Community!

I hope this message finds you doing well. As April ushers in the full swing of spring, I invite all members of our simulation society to embrace the season of renewal and growth in both our personal and professional journeys.

The Society for Simulation in Healthcare has an abundance of outstanding resources that can help you with your professional development. These have all been developed by your colleagues as resources that help us deliver one of our mission goals fostering education, professional development, and the advancement of research and innovation.

International Simulation Data Registry

The International Simulation Data Registry (ISDR) is a wonderful platform that collects and archives data from simulation-based activities worldwide to achieve three critical objectives: enhancing the simulation community's adoption of proven educational methods, boosting simulation-based research efficiency, and providing ongoing, site-specific data for program improvement and quality. We invite you to explore how your center can join the ISDR!

SSH Simulation Scholarship Knowledge Map

The SSH Simulation Scholarship Knowledge Map is an invaluable resource, showcasing a visual network of research connections, methodologies, and applications in an easily navigable format, surpassing traditional databases like PubMed. This central, evolving repository links research initiatives across time, fostering innovation and strengthening the healthcare simulation community.

Evidence-based guidelines PAPER NOW AVAILABLE

A third key resource is the recent publication of evidence-based guidelines for healthcare simulation, the culmination of the society's third research summit. This document, along with the accompanying literature reviews of simulation-based training and methodology, offers an invaluable and comprehensive synthesis of the current state of scientific understanding.

And some final points …

We are nearing midway through the 30-day voting period for the SSH annual bylaws update. My deepest thanks go to all who have participated in this process, particularly our members, whose insightful and constructive feedback has been crucial in refining the proposed amendments. Online voting is now available and will conclude on Friday, April 19, 2024, at 5 p.m. Eastern Time (U.S.). Voting is exclusive to current SSH members. Lapsed and new members can renew or initiate their membership by visiting www.ssih.org and selecting "Join/Renew." If you want to vote and haven’t received information via email on how to do so, please email Taylor Jessup at tjessup@ssih.org.

April is National Interprofessional Healthcare Month. In aligning with the National Academies of Practice's proclamation for National Interprofessional Healthcare Month,  I would like to underscore the integral role of healthcare simulation in fostering interprofessional collaboration, critical for delivering high-quality, coordinated, and effective patient care. Through simulation, healthcare professionals across disciplines can enhance their diverse skills and knowledge, embodying the proclamation's vision for improved health promotion, wellness, and disease prevention.

Let's harness the power of healthcare simulation to lead the charge in celebrating National Interprofessional Healthcare Month, showcasing our commitment to excellence in patient care through collaborative innovation and education.

Warm regards,

Dr. Barry Issenberg
2024-25 SSH President
