THE PULSE - Mid-Year Check-in from Executive Director Jennifer Manos > The Society for Simulation in Healthcare
JOIN/RENEW SSH
11

Greetings, SSH Community!

As we near the midpoint of 2024 - another incredibly exciting year for SSH and the entire healthcare simulation industry - I wanted to ensure you have some important updates and opportunities on your calendar between now and next January.

First and foremost, I want to extend our sincere gratitude to Dr. Mark W. Scerbo for his exceptional leadership as the Editor-in-Chief of the Simulation in Healthcare Journal.

His dedication and expertise have been instrumental in maintaining the journal's position as the premier source of simulation-based research and practice. As Dr. Scerbo steps down in 2024, we are now seeking nominations, including self-nominations, for the next Editor-in-Chief. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of our field, and I encourage you to visit our website for more information and to submit your nominations by THIS FRIDAY, June 14.

Next, SimOps 2024 is happening next month - July 17-19, in Aurora, Colorado, at Children’s Hospital Colorado! This is the premier event for simulation operations specialists, offering a chance to learn from experts, network with peers, and explore the latest technologies. It’s so exciting to see this event continue to grow both now and into the future, and I encourage you to register today to take advantage of this valuable opportunity and SOAR!

Another upcoming opportunity and deadline: SSH Fellows Nominations are due June 17. Becoming an SSH Fellow offers many benefits including: recognition for your contributions to SSH and to healthcare simulation; contributing to the future path and project directions of SSH; and influencing or advancing the art, science, and practice of healthcare simulation as part of the SSH Academy.  Fellows are expected to be active in the SSH Academy and to advance the mission and vision of SSH and the SSH Academy through high level initiatives.

The Fellows are an exceptional group and one of my favorites. They give so much of their time and insight and continue to help propel both SSH and healthcare simulation forward. (My advice to you: when you have a moment to connect with them at IMSH 2025, you should!)

Speaking of shaping the future, Healthcare Simulation Week 2024 is just around the corner, September 16-20. I love this year's theme, "Launchpad to Legacy: What's Your Next?", as it is all about sharing your NEXT goals and collaborating with others to propel the field forward! Please visit the Healthcare Simulation Week page to add your center's pin to the map, post your #hcsimweek24 week events, and check out the official store for all the celebratory gifts, prizes, and tools you'll need to have a wonderful week.

Finally, as we approach the 20th anniversary of SSH and the 25th anniversary of IMSH in January, I'm filled with gratitude and excitement. It's truly an honor to serve as Executive Director during such a momentous time. I'm continually inspired by the dedication and innovation of our members, volunteer leaders, and SSH Staff, and I'm eager to see how we continue to advance healthcare simulation in the years to come. The future is bright, and I can't wait to see what we accomplish together.

Sincerely,

Jennifer L. Manos, MBA, MSN, RN
SSH Executive Director
