Erik Rufa, MD

Dr. Rufa is an internal medicine/general medicine physician who works as a hospitalist in the Boston area.  In addition to clinical work he is a simulationist who designs and implements medical simulations for health care providers at Newton Wellesley Hospital.  His interests within medical simulation include using simulation to enhance quality improvement projects, procedures, inter-professional simulation, and improving communication in serious illness. 

His students have recognized him for excellence in teaching.  He has received numerous teaching awards and recognitions from Newton Wellesley Hospital, Tufts School of Medicine, University of Vermont School of Medicine, and Massachusetts General Internal Medicine Residents.  Dr. Rufa is board certified in internal medicine and is a fellow in the Society of Hospital Medicine.  He is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine at Tufts University School of Medicine and a Clinical Assistant Professor in the School of Physician Assistant Studies at Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences.

Samantha Singh, MSN, MSW 

Samantha is Director, Regional Perinatal Simulation Center- Saint Barnabas Medical Center, Barnabas Health. With more than 10 years of experience in the health care industry, she has developed strong clinical and administrative skills, extensive experience in coordinating and understanding the needs of multiple agencies, while effectively advocating for quality care. 

In her current position, she has integrated simulation education across multi-professional healthcare education in clinical, non-clinical, and academic settings. She has designed, implemented, evaluated, and standardized educational programs for staff development in clinical and non-clinical simulation. Her work is focused on the use of simulation with debriefing, assessment, and self-awareness.

To promote and advance medical simulation at all levels of internal medicine/general medicine education for the benefit of patients and practitioners.
