The SSH Virtual Scholars Program application deadline is this FRIDAY, July 1!

You can find the following information here, but I wanted to pull out some highlights of the Virtual Scholars Program.

A program made possible through work from the SSH Fellows Academy and Research Committee, this program is designed for members of the simulation community who: 1) have relatively little experience with research and scholarship, and 2) are seeking additional mentoring and research training to expand their knowledge and better contribute to the discipline through scientific inquiry. The course will be directed by Mary Ann Shinnick, PhD, ACNP, CNS, CHSE-A, Walter Eppich, PhD, FSSH and other select members of the SSH Academy and the Research Committee. Also, the course will feature a diverse array of simulation scholars and researchers as both instructors and mentors.

By the end of the program, participants will have developed a thorough grounding in healthcare-simulation research. Participants will be expected to enter the program with a specific project idea in mind, and will leave the program with a methodologically sound, detailed research proposal ready for submission to the SSH Novice Grants Program (required) and other funding sources.

These proposals will also be presented in oral format at a dedicated session of IMSH 2023. Up to fifteen (15) applicants will be selected. Those still in training are encouraged to apply. For full application and program requirements, please check out the program page on SSIH.org. One of those requirements includes being expected to attend IMSH 2023 in Orlando, Florida, next January 21-25. Before that, however, is the SSH Research Summit, Jan. 20-21.

Attend the SSH Research Summit and be among the FIRST to hear and see evidence-based findings in 12 (TWELVE!) KEY simulation areas. You can check out the tentative schedule now and make plans to attend THE ONLY PRECONFERENCE EVENT ahead of IMSH 2023. So, while it always anchors the healthcare simulation industry, “Research” truly is front-and-center this year and next.

It means there has never been a better time to apply for the Virtual Scholars Program, be one of up to 15 individuals to be included in this year’s class, and be recognized at IMSH! Questions? Send them my way at aspain@ssih.org. Get your Virtual Scholars Applications in now, take advantage of these amazing research opportunities offered nowhere else, and we’ll see you soon!
