This is an announcement!

We often come to you with “remember this!” or “you really should do …”; I get that.

But, for those of you who are early in your healthcare simulation careers and looking to level up, this is a true can’t miss opportunity for you

The SSH Early Career Researcher Grant Program (formerly the SSH Novice Research Grant Program) is currently accepting letters of intent! They are due by 5 p.m. Eastern Time (U.S.), August 22, 2022.

In existence since 2013, this program offers the potential to shift the trajectory of your simulation career. The SSH Research Committee established the grant program to further the development of new investigators and research initiatives. To date, the Society has awarded over 20 monetary awards to early career research projects in healthcare simulation. (See the full list of winners here.)

The main objective for the provision of these grants is to support novice investigators. In that light, early-career researchers developing methodologically sound simulation-based research projects using quantitative, qualitative, or hybrid approaches are sought for the program.

Studies that are both innovative and have strong potential for a positive impact on the simulation field are encouraged. The potential impact on the applicant’s career is also considered.

The criteria for eligible investigators/applicants are as follows:

1. The primary investigator may not have received more than $10,000 (USD) in previous research grant funding.
2. The primary investigator may not have been a primary or contributing author on more than five simulation-based peer-reviewed articles in publication.

And, one more note… only ONE project submission will be accepted from each Principal Investigator.

As Director of Education, I believe this program is one of the most special initiatives and support mechanisms across all of SSH’s offerings. I love that our Society has this platform built to spur innovation and showcase some of our best early-career thinkers!

Please do take part this year. Check out the program's full information and submit your application before August 22. And, if you have any questions, please send them to education@ssih.org! We’ll be glad to help, and we’ll look for your submissions!
