If you weren’t aware, one of the top reasons healthcare simulation professionals join SSH is for networking opportunities.

In the halls at events, in volunteer activities and meetings, and even online in chats – you never know when or where that next career-boosting connection is going to spark. We just know that it does, which is why we strive like we do to provide those spark environments for our members!

Speaking of, if you are looking for a way to get plugged in but are not sure where to start, please let me introduce and invite you to explore our 30 SSH Sections, Special Interest Groups (SIGs) and Affinity Groups! These groups – focused on a wide variety of simulation topics and disciplines – meet virtually throughout the year. They work collaboratively on simulation focused projects, educational presentations, and so much more!

I said 30 groups because we have two new Affinity Groups recently approved by the SSH Board of Directors: and. Their mission statements can be found below:

Value-based Simulation: The Value-Based Simulation Affinity Group seeks to demonstrate and make visible the value that simulation-based interventions provide to healthcare institutions. By creating collaborations between simulation programs already engaged in this work and those new to the process, we will leverage collective expertise and experience in value-based simulation for the betterment of the global healthcare simulation community.

Distance Simulation: The mission of the Distance simulation Affinity Group is to provide a forum to discuss distance simulation education and research.

Also very exciting, we also have our first Regional Group – Neurology in Simulation!

The primary goal of this group is to create a community for neurology educators and trainees interested in simulation to share ideas and collaborate.[

Several of the groups will be electing new leadership for the upcoming year. Calls for nominations will be sent out soon. Check out our SSH Member Roadmap and start your path to leadership!

You can join any of our Sections, SIGs and Affinity Groups through your SSH profile. Not sure what group(s) are best for you? Email me today, and we’ll be happy to get you connected!

Sincerely,

Ashley Grossman
SSH Interim Director of Membership
