On the heels of our recent SSH Accreditation application deadline …

I’m writing with the news that SSH Accreditation growth continues to rocket!  We just passed our most recent application deadline, and while we don’t know how many new programs will ultimately achieve SSH Accreditation, we think we’ll be near 270 programs in just a few months.

We’ve come so far in such a short amount of time considering SSH began its Accreditation program in 2010, with five pioneer programs achieving their status.

With each application deadline (February 15 and July 15, annually), we continue to see an increase in the number of applications, which is leading to more programs achieving our high standard, which means exponential growth in the QUALITY of healthcare simulation around the world.

It all is just incredibly exciting and humbling to see so much fruit from the labor of so many volunteer leaders and Accreditation Department staff. It also is amazing to think about how much stronger healthcare simulation education is worldwide now compared to 13 years ago. An offshoot of that growth is tangible interest in SSH Accreditation being shown in other ways, too.

Accreditation leadership during Healthcare Simulation Week 2023

As part of its Healthcare Simulation Week 2023 celebration, SSH has created a mini-shadow program and asked Accredited centers to serve as mini-mentors for SSH members who aren’t accredited. So far, 12 programs have signed up as mini-mentors, which is fantastic!

Those programs will get paired with centers/individuals who have questions, want guidance, want to learn more and grow their own programs, etc. So far, while the conversation can be about anything, we’re hearing that a lot of questions from those mini-mentee programs are centered on accreditation. Word is getting out, and we’re thrilled our Accredited Center community is stepping up to serve a key role by sharing their success stories and helping celebrate Healthcare Simulation Week.

Our next application deadline is February 15, 2023. If you’re interested in applying, start by reviewing our standards and companion documents which can be found at the links below:
